CourtEasy is quick, inexpensive and easy.
To use CourtEasy, go to the Red Box that asks WHAT WOULD YOU
LIKE TO DO and click the drop down link.
Follow the prompts to Login or, if you are a First Time User,
to Register, Obtain a User Name and Password and Login.
TO REGISTER A CASE:
To use CourtEasy, first register your case and the party you
represent. You will be asked to pay a one-time fee, using PayPal,
for yourself or each separate party you represent. Once you have
registered and paid for yourself or that party, you may use CourtEasy
as many times as you want in that case for yourself or that party
without limitation.
If you are a lawyer, you must register each party you represent
separately.
Each time you register and pay for a party, you will be asked
to Login again.
AFTER YOU HAVE REGISTERED:
After Login, you will view a log of all cases for which you
have registered – delineated by whether you represent or
are the Plaintiff/Petitioner or Defendant/Respondent. Once you
have registered and paid a one-time fee, you have unlimited use
of CourtEasy for that case to communicate with other parties.
After you register a new case, it will be assigned a CourtEasy
Case Number. To find the case in the future, use CaseSearch to
find the case by entering a party’s name and court case
number OR simply enter the CourtEasy Case Number.
Each time you Register or Join a Case, your case will be listed
on your personal log which can be accessed by Logging in with
your user name and password.
To use CourtEasy to communicate with any other litigant, click
the View Log button. At the bottom of each page, you will find
buttons to Create a Cooperation Request,
Create a New Deposition Scheduling Request or Add Parties.
Create a Cooperation Request is utilized for communicating with
an opposing party regarding a motion or objection. After a Cooperation
Request is initiated, each party you designate receives an email
invitation to respond to your request. To respond, the recipient
must register as a party to the case and pay a one-time fee using
PayPal. They can then communicate as many times as they wish
on that case.
Create a New Deposition Scheduling Request is utilized to arrange
mutually convenient dates, times and locations for witness' depositions
among litigants.
Adding Parties is utilized for adding and paying for an additional
party or parties in the case if you are called upon to represent
someone else in an already registered case.
TO CREATE A COOPERATION REQUEST:
For any new motion or objection push the Create a Cooperation
Request button , fill in the form and click the Send button once.
Each person or party to whom you send a request to will receive
an email requesting them to respond. Your request will be entered,
dated and timed in the Case Detail Log as a transaction. If the
recipient(s) respond, their response will be entered in the Case
Detail Log for that transaction and you will receive an email
requesting your response.
Each new cooperation request creates a new transaction. For
instance, a Motion to Compel would be transaction 1-1 in the
Case Detail Log. Each response to the Motion to Compel will be
listed as 1-2, 1-3, etc. A Motion to Dismiss would be transaction
2-1. Each response to the Motion to Dismiss will be transaction
2-2, 2-3. etc.
TO RESPOND TO A COOPERATION REQUEST:
After receiving an email, click the email link, Login to CourtEasy
and view your Case Log. Click the Respond button, fill in the
fields and click the Send button once. Each person or party to
whom you send a response will receive an email requesting them
to respond. Your response will be entered, dated and timed in
the Case Detail Log.
Any litigant or their legal representative can certify that
an agreement has or has not been reached. Once certified, the
transaction of the matter is ended and the certification is listed
with a verified date and time in the Case Detail Log.
TO CREATE A NEW DEPOSITION SCHEDULING REQUEST:
To coordinate a witness' deposition, push the New Deposition
Schedule Request, fill in the form and click the Send button
once. Each person or party to whom you send a request to will
receive an email requesting them to respond. Your request will
be entered, dated and timed in the Case Detail Log as a transaction.
If the recipient(s) respond, their response will be entered in
the log for that transaction and you will receive an email requesting
your response.
Each new Deposition Scheduling Request creates a new transaction
for that witness. For instance, a request to depose John Doe
would be transaction 1-1 in the Case Detail Log. Each response
for John Doe will be listed as 1-2, 1-3, etc. A new Deposition
Scheduling Request for Mary Doe would be transaction 2-1. Each
response for Mary Doe will be transaction 2-2, 2-3. etc.
TO RESPOND TO A NEW DEPOSITION SCHEDULING REQUEST:
After receiving an email, click the email link, Login to CourtEasy
and view your Case Detail Log. Click the Respond button, fill
in the fields and click the Send button once. Each person or
party to whom you send a response will receive an email requesting
them to respond. Your response will be entered, dated and timed
in the Case Detail Log.
For the witness listed, indicate whether you can confirm your
availability to the proposed deposition date and time or, if
you cannot agree, propose an alternative date, time or location.
Click the Send button and your response will be emailed to the
other registered parties.
Any person can certify that an agreement has or has not been
reached. Once certified, the transaction of the matter is ended
and the certification is listed with a verified date and time
in the Case Detail Log. Any party or their Legal Representative
can certify regardless of whether an agreement has or has not
been reached with an opposing party.
